About Wigs for Kids
Wigs for Kids BC (W4K BC) helps kids living with cancer, live better.
A proudly volunteer-run organization, W4K BC provides funding to cover the cost of custom-made human-hair wigs for children and teens at BC Children's Hospital who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or other serious illnesses. Donations to W4K BC also help families pay for medications and feeding supplies that are essential for treatment but not covered by their medical plan.
When a child has a serious illness it takes an enormous toll on the entire family–both emotionally and financially. The assistance W4K BC provides makes the family's burden a little lighter so they can focus more of their time and energy on caring for their sick child.
By contributing to W4K BC, you are making a tremendous difference in the lives of children living with cancer –and their families–across the province. Thank you for your support.

In memory of Auntie Jen ❤️
Wednesday 2nd Sep💕 Two Generations of Hair, One Special Cause
This year, something very special is happening in our family. ❤️
I’ve donated my hair multiple times over the years, but this time I wanted to do something a little extra. On Friday, September 25, Amara and I will be cutting our hair together and donating it to Wigs for Kids BC, while also raising money for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
This will be Amara’s very first haircut. ✂️💗
For years, she never wanted to cut her hair, but she is finally ready. We’ve talked about where her hair will go and who it can help, and she is so happy and excited to be able to donate it. I’m incredibly proud of her, and I’m hoping this can become a special tradition for the two of us to do together every few years.
This haircut also has an especially meaningful connection to someone we love and miss very much — Auntie Jen. ❤️
September marks one year since we lost our beloved Auntie Jen, and we wanted to do this in her honour.
Auntie Jen was one of the kindest, most generous and loving people. She always wanted to help others and give back to charity. One of her very last wishes was to leave a generous donation to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, which says so much about the kind of person she was.
She also had such a special love for Amara and Jayden. Some of Amara’s favourite memories of Auntie Jen are watching videos of different animals together and baking together. Those simple moments are memories that we will always treasure. ❤️
So, as Amara and I sit in the salon together and watch our hair being cut, it will be about so much more than just a haircut. It will be about giving, helping others, creating a special memory together, and remembering someone who taught us so much about kindness and generosity.
And believe it or not, JJ’s hair is long enough to donate too! 😂 He has decided he is not ready for a haircut just yet, though, so we’re respecting his wishes. Maybe next time!
If you would like to support us, we would be so grateful for any donation, big or small. 100% of the money raised through our fundraising page will support BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and help make a difference in the lives of children and families.
🎗️ Donations of $20 or more are eligible for an official charitable tax receipt from BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. The Foundation automatically provides tax receipts for donations of $20 or more made through the Wigs for Kids BC fundraising program.
Even if you aren’t able to donate, sharing our fundraiser means so much to us. ❤️
Thank you for helping Amara and me turn something as simple as cutting our hair into something meaningful — and for helping us honour the beautiful, generous person that Auntie Jen was.
For Auntie Jen. For Amara. For kids. ❤️
