About Wigs for Kids

Wigs for Kids BC (W4K BC) helps kids living with cancer, live better.

A proudly volunteer-run organization, W4K BC provides funding to cover the cost of custom-made human-hair wigs for children and teens at BC Children's Hospital who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or other serious illnesses. Donations to W4K BC also help families pay for medications and feeding supplies that are essential for treatment but not covered by their medical plan.

When a child has a serious illness it takes an enormous toll on the entire family–both emotionally and financially. The assistance W4K BC provides makes the family's burden a little lighter so they can focus more of their time and energy on caring for their sick child.

By contributing to W4K BC, you are making a tremendous difference in the lives of children living with cancer –and their families–across the province. Thank you for your support.

Cut a Hipster's Man-Bun for Charity

Wednesday 25th Feb
Hello everyone! I have been growing out my hair since September 2021, just before I started my schooling to become a Funeral Director & Embalmer. I have had maintenance cuts on the sides and back of my head, but the length on the top of my head has about 18" in length, with having no cuts or trims in the last 4.5 years.

I knew at the beginning, this was partly a measure of my schooling and dedication that I would try to keep growing throughout my schooling until I graduated; but I also knew from the beginning that if I DID manage to keep it, I would cut it and donate it to Wigs for Kids BC, that use un-treated, donated hair to make wigs for kids that have lost their hair due to cancer or illness. They also provide funding for medications and supplements for after treatment at the hospital is done, but still needed for recovery.

Join me in donating to a worthwhile cause, as I cut and donate my hair, on April 18th. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and goes directly to Wigs for Kids, under the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. And if you would like to attend, you can enter to cut a hipster's man-bun for charity.

My goal is to raise at least $450 dollars for the 4.5 years that this journey has been. This hair has seen a lot over the last few years, and now it is finally time to let it go, and let someone else get joy and fulfillment out of it!
