Pie Throw is the BC mining industry’s signature event in support of BC Children’s Hospital. Each year, leaders from across the industry take part in a friendly fundraising challenge to help raise critical funds for kids across the province.
I’m proud to be part of this effort to support care at BC Children’s Hospital’s centre for health complexity, which helps children with the most complex medical needs get the specialized care and support they rely on.
Your donation will help ensure children and families across BC can access life-changing treatment, closer to home and when they need it most.

Mining for Miracles has supported countless initiatives over the years, helping BC Children’s Hospital care for families across BC and Yukon.
Our family's journey started early. Our first-born son required surgery at just 28 days old. As a new mom, it was overwhelming and emotional in ways I can still feel today. But even in those moments, the team at BC Children’s brought calm, confidence, and compassion when we needed it most.
Over the years, with three kids, we’ve been in and out of the hospital a few times. And each time, we experienced the same incredible care - support not just for the patient, but for the whole family.
One of those moments stands out in a special way.
When our daughter Claire was still preschool-aged, she needed an emergency appendectomy. What could have been a frightening experience was made almost routine by an incredibly skilled team.
And here’s the part that makes this so meaningful: Claire’s surgery took place in the Smart Operating Room - the very facility funded by the Mining for Miracles community years earlier.
A true full-circle moment.
A Little Friendly Rivalry… for a Big Cause
I’m going head-to-head with my husband Jason to see who can raise more.
Let’s just say… neither of us has any intention of losing.
But beyond the rivalry, we both know what really matters.
Because win or lose, the true winners are the kids and families who depend on BC Children’s Hospital every day.
