A Little Girl with a Big Heart & A Community That Cares: Leyja Partners with Seafair Animal Clinic for Wigs for Kids

Leyja, an 8-year-old Steveston Village local and a special part of the Seafair Animal Clinic family, is partnering with Dr. Liza Lackner and the team at Seafair Animal Clinic to make a difference for children in need.

On December 5th, Leyja will be taking the brave and generous step of cutting her hair at Little Mexico Cantina, donating it to Wigs for Kids to help children experiencing hair loss due to cancer and other medical conditions. With her kind and gentle heart, Leyja has chosen to turn something as simple as a haircut into an opportunity to bring hope, confidence, and smiles to other children.

What started as one little girl's desire to help has grown into a wonderful community partnership. Together, Leyja, Dr. Liza Lackner, and Seafair Animal Clinic are working to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer and the important work Wigs for Kids does to help children feel confident and like themselves again.

Leyja is a kind and gentle child with a big heart. A passionate animal lover, she especially enjoys rescuing animals and has a particular love for reptiles. Her compassion extends beyond animals, and her desire to help other children inspired her to reach out to her local veterinary clinic and ask for their support.

Dr. Liza Lackner and the Seafair Animal Clinic team were thrilled to join Leyja's mission. As a lifelong Steveston resident, Dr. Lackner has deep roots in the community and a genuine passion for giving back. As a mother herself, she understands the importance of supporting children and families and is proud to encourage Leyja's kindness, initiative, and desire to make a difference.

To show her commitment to the cause, Dr. Lackner has generously pledged to match the donations Leyja raises, helping double the impact of the community's contributions!

Seafair Animal Clinic is also taking its support one step further. The clinic team will be joining the event outside on the dog-friendly patio at Little Mexico Cantina from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, offering dog and cat nail trims by donation, with 100% of proceeds going directly to Wigs for Kids.

This is a wonderful opportunity for local pet owners to support a meaningful cause while bringing their furry family members out to participate. Through the combined efforts of Leyja, Dr. Lackner, and the Seafair Animal Clinic team, the hope is to raise funds, spread awareness, and inspire others to get involved.
