I'm Helping Kids Be Mighty

Boys Who Rise is a mentorship, leadership, and community-building initiative working primarily with boys and young men from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and surrounding neighborhoods. The program focuses on connection, positive identity, physical activity, and service-based learning—creating opportunities for youth to step into responsibility, purpose, and leadership.

Many youth involved in Boys Who Rise have firsthand experience navigating barriers to healthcare, mental health supports, and access to essential services. Because of this lived experience, supporting youth medical care is deeply meaningful to them. It allows young people to advocate not just in theory, but from understanding—recognizing how vital accessible, specialized medical care can be during moments of crisis, illness, and uncertainty.

Through initiatives like Donuts for Doctors, Boys Who Rise empowers youth to support other youth across British Columbia by raising funds and awareness for children’s healthcare. These projects help participants see themselves as contributors to their community, capable of making a real and positive impact in the lives of others.

Youth supporting youth builds empathy, confidence, and a sense of belonging—and reminds all of us that care, generosity, and leadership can come from anyone, at any age.

Thanks for your time and partnership!
