Help Make Us Mighty

As one of the world’s top pediatric hospitals, BC Children’s is leading the way in shaping the future of care. We’re making bold advancements in personalized medicine that target the root cause of a child’s illness. We’re determined to put an end to chronic conditions like diabetes and asthma that rob kids of the joys of childhood. We’re helping to change the odds for the most aggressive cancers—and ensuring children and teens receive timely access to mental health care.

By participating in the Festival of Trees, you’re bringing us closer to achieving our most ambitious goals for children’s health. Your contribution will fast-track breakthrough research, equip the hospital with advanced technologies and ensure kids receive care tailored to their unique needs.

We're fundraising for...

This year, Bishop's Family Cycles is sponsoring a tree at the Bay Centre's Festival of Trees, running Nov 15th to Jan 5th, in support of BC Children's Hospital and in honour of our son, Bishop, who spent two years in treatment at BCCH.

Bishop (affectionally known as Bash) was diagnosed the summer of 2021 with medulloblastoma. He spent 8 months receiving high-intensity chemo and a collective 4 months of radiation treatment. The staff of Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Nutritionists, Social Workers, Specialists, Orderlies, Janitors and Food Service Providers worked daily to keep Bash happy, healthy and thriving while undergoing treatment. Although Bash passed away in August of 2023, we are still incredibly grateful for the time we had with him. We had more happy months with our littlest kiddo than we ever expected too thanks to our BCCH team.

Along with cargo bike ornaments, our tree will feature ornaments with pictures of children who have had treatment at BCCH that we've met throughout our journey. Make sure you stop by over the holidays to admire their adorable faces and help fundraise for BCCH.

We miss him every moment of every day. He is the reason we opened our bike shop (6 months before he was diagnosed--the timing!) and he lives on in all the families out riding on the lanes every day. This is his afterlife.

[all donations made through bike ornament purchases from our business will be added into this tally after the holidays.]
