She has struggled with eczema for many years, and the Dermatology Department at BC Children’s Hospital has been incredibly helpful in her treatment. Through her comic and this fundraiser, Cindy hopes to help other children like her receive better care. All proceeds from the Cookie & Oreo Fundraiser will go directly to the Dermatology Department at BC Children’s Hospital, supporting their important work.

The Origin of the Cookie and Oreo Fundraiser

The Cookie and Oreo fundraiser was inspired by Cindy’s love of drawing and her personal journey. At the age of six, after receiving two guinea pigs from her mother, Cindy began creating comic stories featuring them as her main characters. A year later, she developed severe eczema, and during her difficult experience, the doctors and nurses at BC Children’s Hospital’s dermatology department provided her with tremendous care and support. After completing and publishing her comic book Cookie and Oreo, Cindy decided to dedicate the project to giving back. Through this fundraiser, she hopes her creation can not only support the dermatology department but also bring encouragement, better treatment, and hope to children living with eczema, just as she once did.

Cindy grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and is a passionate writer and illustrator who finds joy in transforming everyday moments into silly doodles. She has been creating comics since she was six years old and continues to make them today at eleven. Her love for storytelling and art led her to create Cookie and Oreo, a delightful journey that combines her unique illustrations with hilarious stories. When she's not doodling or dreaming up new stories, Cindy enjoys reading comics, exploring new art styles, and finding inspiration in the little things around her. She hopes her stories bring as much laughter and fun to readers as she has creating them.
