Supporting Youth-Led Health Promotion in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side
Together with RayCam Co-operative Centre’s Youth Advisory Council, UBC Pediatric resident doctors, medical students and Adolescent Medicine physician, Dr. Sara Jassemi, have partnered on a new youth health promotion and outreach initiative:
Roots & Resilience
Your donation will support monthly pop-ups covering health topics shaped by young people themselves. Past sessions have ranged from taking vital signs and responding to medical emergencies, to skin and dental care, and career options in healthcare.
Through these pop-ups, young people become familiar with the BC Children’s Social Pediatrics Program and healthcare providers working in their very own community, and medical learners have the opportunity to gain fluency in a form of care that goes beyond prescriptions or hospital settings.
