A Grateful Dad
Nearly 10 years ago, at the end of April 2016, our family’s world changed overnight. My middle son Alex was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and was airlifted from Victoria to BC Children's Hospital.
Over the next five months, Alex spent most of his time as an inpatient at BC Children’s Hospital receiving intensive treatment. Those months were incredibly difficult for Alex and for our whole family, but we were surrounded by extraordinary doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for him every step of the way.
Thankfully, after those long months of treatment, Alex was able to come home. We are incredibly grateful to say that he has been in remission ever since and has only returned to the hospital for regular checkups.
Our family knows just how fortunate we are.
To show our gratitude and support for the life-saving work happening every day at BC Children’s Hospital, we’ve decided to participate once again in Balding for Dollars.
On May 2, 2026, our team will be shaving our heads to raise funds for childhood cancer research and care.
The care Alex received changed our lives, and we hope to help ensure that other families facing childhood cancer receive the same incredible support.
If you are able, please consider supporting this cause by donating to this page and cheering on our team.
Thank you for helping make a difference
