10 Years Later — Giving Back
Nearly 10 years ago our family’s life changed overnight when our son Alex was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and airlifted from Victoria to BC Children’s Hospital.
For about five months BC Children’s Hospital became a second home for us. Alex spent much of that time in the hospital receiving treatment, while the rest of our family learned to navigate a new routine of ferry trips back and forth between Victoria and Vancouver.
Thanks to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at BC Children’s Hospital, Alex made it through treatment and eventually came home for good. Since then we’ve only had to return for checkups — something we are deeply grateful for.
This year our family — Dad Nathaniel and brothers Evan, Alex, and Jens — will all be shaving our heads together for Balding for Dollars to show our appreciation and support for the amazing work BC Children’s Hospital does for kids and families every day.
We know how fortunate we are, and we’re proud to be able to give back in a small way to a place that meant so much to our family.
