Grateful for BC Children’s hosptial
As most of you know, our son Lachlan (Lachy) went through quite a bit over the last 6 weeks. He was infected with an invasive strep A bacteria that invaded into his bloodstream. It caused a septic shock to his body. He was resuscitated in the ICU and stayed there for 4 days. Got transferred to a step down ward for 2 weeks. Got home for a week until we realised his knees were infected as well. Went back to children’s for a surgical procedure for his R knee. Stayed there for another 10 days. And now he is finally home 😊
We are very grateful for the unconditional support from the BC Children’s Hospital team and we would like to fundraise for their foundation. Our family will also participate in their kids run on June 9th.

Lachy’s journey
Lachy was diagnosed with strep group a invasive bacteria infection on Apr 3, 2024. He went into sepsis while we were in the BC Children’s emergency room. The bacteria invaded into his blood and caused him to be very ill. He stayed in the PICU for 4 days and fought a great battle. He also got pneumonia and osteomyelitis which required a procedure to wash out his right knee. BC Children’s provided the specialized care that Lachy needed to recover. We have experienced the best care and support from BC’s children. Lachy is now finally home with us after nearly 35 days of hospitalization.
