This is why we run
Every step you take gets us closer to achieving our goal of conquering childhood illnesses.
Approximately 130 children in BC are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Every 3-4 days a child is diagnosed with diabetes, a life-long disease with no cure.
Over 95,000 children and youth in BC are living with a mental health condition—but only 40% get the care they need.
Here are the strides we’ve made, because of you.
Since 1986, race participants and supporters have turned countless small steps into mighty strides in child health. This dedication has supported cancer research, mental health programs and other areas of BC Children’s Hospital that need vital resources.
As BC’s largest family fun run, RBC Race for the Kids has helped improve the lives of countless kids since it started in 1986. By supporting BC Children’s Hospital, participants have seen their small steps transform into mighty strides in child health. Along the way, we’ve celebrated hospital staff who have changed lives and patients who have inspired us with their fighting spirit.
For 39 years, families have come together for an exciting, fun-filled day to celebrate BC’s kids. Decked out in colourful T-shirts and running shoes—and even heroic capes—participants walk, run and wheel along to show their support for kids across the province.
We’re incredibly proud of the distance we’ve come, but our work isn’t done.
By rallying together, we can help tackle the biggest health threats facing kids. Each step you take in this year’s RBC Race for the Kids will make a big difference in the lives of children and families with serious and lifelong childhood diseases. Together, we can race toward a healthier future.
