Safety
Safety is our top priority to ensure a fun race day experience. By planning ahead and following essential safety tips, runners can enjoy their race day to the fullest. Make sure to participate in our warm-up, stay hydrated, wear appropriate footwear, and choose a running corral for your fitness level. Here are some safety precautions we have in place to make race day safe and enjoyable for everyone!
Staying safe on the race route
- Buddy System: We encourage participants to run with a buddy or in groups. This ensures that someone is always there to help in case of an emergency – and running is better with friends! We ask that a parent or guardian run the route with children under the age of 16 as we have thousands of runners joining us on race day and it's easy for children to get separated from their parents and scared in a busy environment without supervision.
- Pick a meeting spot: If you do get separated from your guardian or group on race day, be sure to have picked out a meeting spot before you leave on your run. We will have signage at the finish line for a designated meeting spot, but any landmark will do. If you do find yourself separated, find a volunteer in a green shirt or a race official.
- Have contact information handy: We will provide wristbands at t-shirt pick up for kids, please use these and fill them out with a guardian’s contact information, so if you and your child are separated on race day, officials can use your contact number to reunite you. Race bibs are also a great place to include your contact info!
First Aid
We want everyone to leave the race injury free, but we have several first aid stations and attendants onsite to keep everyone safe. While on the route, keep an eye out for first aid attendants in red on bikes if you need help. There will be two first aid stations, located in the Teams Meeting Area and Festival Zone, close to the finish line.
Emergency Response
In case of an emergency that requires evacuation, follow the instructions of race officials. They will guide you to the nearest safe exit and muster stations. Listen for announcements over the PA system for any important updates or instructions during the event.
Road closures
Road closures will be in effect as of 6:00am on Sunday, June 8th, check back soon to plan ahead for race day.
