Michael Werner

Why I'm running this year

My name is Michael Werner.  I am running this race to help the Vancouver Children's Hospital.  They helped me a lot and also helped people I know.

When I was 6 weeks old, I had emergency surgery.  I don't remember anything but my mom said I cried a lot. I was really small as a baby and had difficulty eating different foods.   When I was 3, they found out I had asthma and food allergies.  I have been visiting the clinic every year.  I also went to ER when I choked on a piece of Lego.

This year my breathing is better. I enjoy running with my school and joined track for the first time.  I am grateful to the doctors and nurses who helped me get better.  The Children's Hospital helps a lot of other kids. My friend's sister had cancer when she was younger, now she is healthy.  Some of my friends had broken bones.  My sister Natalie had an infection when she was a baby.  I would like to thank the hospital by raising money to support them.
