T8 Avengers!
I am running in memory of Danica and for all T8 Avengers!
My daughter, Danica was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma at the age of 10. She went through treatment at BCCH and was cancer free for three years. Just after her 14 birthday, Danica was diagnosed with a second cancer – renal Ewing Sarcoma. She again received treatment at BCCH.
In April 2024 Danica lost her battle against cancer.
T8 Avengers is made up of family and friends of children who have faced pediatric cancer.
About 130 children are diagnosed with cancer in BC each year. Overall survival rates for childhood cancer have improved but 1 in 5 children do not survive. Children who do survive often experience long term health problems from their cancer treatment.
